In the early 1980s FBI Profiling pioneer John Douglas was called to work on San Francisco's Trailside murders.He gave a profile that had law enforcement laughing and calling him an idiot.He had said in his profile that the killer had a cleft pallate or some kind of facial disfigurement and he would speak with a stutter or another type of speech impediment.This sounded crazy. When Carpenter was finally caught & brought into court he had a cleft palate and had such a bad stutter he could barely speak.This and other early cases involving the Behavioral Sciences Unit and what we now know as "profiling" cemented their validity in law enforcement's eyes.And probably had some people thinking John Douglas was psychic. LARRY EYLER was a lesser known serial killer who murdered 21 young men and boys in 5 seperate states.He was known as The Interstate Prowler.He was sentenced to death but died of AIDS while on death row. Karma's a bitch.
